The Green Climate Fund (GCF)
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is a new global fund created to support the efforts of developing countries to respond to the challenge of climate change. GCF helps developing countries limit or reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adapt to climate change.

Ministerul Agriculturii, Dezvoltării Regionale și Mediului a organizat un atelier de lucru pentru a explica procedurile legale de obținere a finanțării de la Fondul Verde pentru Climă (FVC), proceduri ce vizează atât Autoritatea Națională Desemnată (AND) cât și alte instituții guvernamentale responsabile de schimbările climatice, parteneri relevanți în raport cu FVC. De asemenea, au fost prezentate aspectele de conlucrare a AND-lui cu FVC, fiind descrise în Manualul Operațional al AND-lui, un produs comun al echipei de consultanți naționali ai proiectului.
UN Climate Summit paves the way for an ambitious and successful replenishment of the Green Climate Fund

New York, 23 September 2019 – Calls from UN Secretary-General António Guterres to double contributions to the Green Climate Fund were met by ambitious pledges from many countries, led by Sweden’s doubling of their contribution to USD 852 million. The new pledges made at the UN Climate Summit have raised the replenishment total beyond USD 7.3 billion, with more contributions expected at the pledging conference in Paris on 24-25 October.

GCF’s Global Programming Conference was held on 19-23 August 2019 in Songdo, Incheon (Republic of Korea). The event brought together representatives of developing countries to discuss GCF’s financial resources, which will be directed to low-emission and climate-resilient projects, in line with the objectives of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement.

UN Climate Change Executive Secretary, Patricia Espinosa, sent out very clear signals for more ambitious climate action at the start of the UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn (SB50). She described the current situation as a ”climate emergency” and called on everyone to take part in ”the fight of our lives”.

Republic of Moldova`s Country Programme for the engagement with GCF
At the Paris Conference in 2015, the Republic of Moldova put forward its "Intended Nationally Determined Contribution" (INDC) with a commitment to reduce, by 2030, the net greenhouse gas emissions by 64-78% relative to 1990 levels. The document also sets the objectives for adaptation to climate change. The country puts efforts to attaint ambitious goals, at the same time seeking external support in the form of financial resources, technology transfer, and technical assistance.
Operational aspects regarding the activity of the National Designated Authority of the Republic of Moldova in relation to the Green Climate Fund and the Accredited Entities
The Operational Manual describes the procedures governing the commitments of GCF National Designated Authority of Moldova in the context of country’s engagement with Green Climate Fund. It will guide and provide support to Accredited Entities (EAs) and potential beneficiaries operating on Moldova’s territory on the national level coordination process during the access of Fund’s financial resources.
Procedura de acreditare a Entităților Naționale cu Fondul Verde pentru Climă (FVC/GCF)
Fondul Verde pentru Climă (FVC) este cel mai mare fond internațional care sprijină țările în curs de dezvoltare să limiteze sau să reducă emisiile de gaze cu efect de seră și să se adapteze impactul schimbărilor climatice prin finanțarea proiectelor înaintate de Entități Acreditate. Pentru a accesa finanțarea, aceste instituții/ entități trec printr-un proces de ”acreditare”, destinat să evalueze capacitățile de gestiune financiară și de protejare a proiectelor și programelor finanțate împotriva oricăror efecte neprevăzute de mediu și/sau sociale.
