Reporting of indicator-based data is performed according to the deadline specified in the data sheets based on the following NAP monitoring steps:

• Micro-level indicators (output indicators) - annually
• Meso-level indicators (outcome indicators, output indicators and driving indicators) - annually; every 2 years; once every 4 years (according to the term specified in the indicator sheets)
• Macro-level indicators (objective indicators) - according to the deadline specified in the indicator sheets or once every four years.

Each phase of the NAP is planned to last 4 years, so, depending on the indicator, some results can be pursued and aggregated several times over a 4-year period to allow a proper assessment of the sectoral adaptation situation with the purpose of correctly planning the next phases of SAP or NAP. At the end of a planning cycle, the data is aggregated in a complex study, a synthesis of the obtained results during the given period, and recommendations are given for the next period.

Experts from the Technical Committee, on the basis of relevant indicators, periodically assess the level of adaptation activities (based on the reporting deadline) and strategic objectives achievement. The Committee subsequently notifies the Government of the progress of the adaptation process.

The responsibility for data collection and reporting on the basis of sectoral indicators belongs to the central public administration authorities of each sector of the economy. The competent Ministries designate a working group lead by an Adaptation Focal Point with the task of following the progress of selected indicators, gathering sector-level information, providing integrated reports based on this information, and participating in any activities of cross-sectoral monitoring and reporting under the NCCC.

Levels of indicator based reporting (macro, meso, micro) of PAPs (programs, activities, projects),
SAPs (sectoral adaptation plans) and NAPs (national adaptation plans) 

Monitoring and evaluation reports are presented for examination to the Government and subsequently to the specialized parliamentary Commission and serve as the basis for country's reporting to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The Committee Secretariat provides the indicator data sheets and the reporting templates to the administrations of the central and local public authorities responsible for reporting, in order to allow standardized monitoring of the results of the indicator-based adaptation activities.

It is worth mentioning that both non-governmental organizations and public associations can participate in micro- and medium level reporting, contributing to the implementation of adaptation measures

Sectoral and cross-sectoral reporting to the National Climate Change Committee is based on the Climate Adaptation Information System. The system was designed as a public information portal regarding various aspects of monitoring, reporting and evaluating the adaptation as well as a monitoring tool for collecting and storing adaptation information at national and sub-national level, with a special focus on sectoral level, and as a way of exchanging knowledge on implementation, reporting and evaluating the adaptation progress. Over time, stored data and information can serve as a research base for Moldova.
